NEW YORKERS GATHER IN BROOKLYN TO PROTEST REP. MALLIOTAKIS’ RECORD OF STANDING WITH CORPORATIONS OVER CONSTITUENTS
“We’re fed up with Rep. Malliotakis siding with greedy corporations over working people”
New York, NY – Unrig Our Economy NYC joined with Rise and Resist in Brooklyn today to educate the public about Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’ shameful record of continually siding with greedy corporations over her constituents.
Most recently, Malliotakis voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, historic legislation to combat inflation, lower costs for working families, and reduce the deficit. The Inflation Reduction Act – which receives overwhelming strong bipartisan support from the public – is fully paid for by ensuring the ultra-wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share.
Participants passed out flyers highlighting Rep. Malliotakis’s votes against cracking down on greedy corporations and lowering costs for working families.
“Congresswoman Malliotakis betrayed her constituents once again by voting against the Inflation Reduction Act, which will improve New Yorkers’ lives by lowering the cost of health care, prescription drugs, and everyday energy costs while reducing the deficit,” said Clare Cecil, Director of Unrig Our Economy NYC. Greedy corporations have been protected by politicians like Malliotakis long enough. It’s time to stand up for hardworking New Yorkers and make our voices heard!”
“Since coming to Washington, Rep. Malliotakis has proven herself a corporate shill and MAGA extremist with no plans to lower costs for working families or crack down on greedy corporations,” said Livvie Mann, a Brooklyn organizer and Malliotakis constituent from the group Rise and Resist. “Hardworking New Yorkers simply can no longer afford Malliotakis’ backward agenda. Malliotakis can expect to hear the wrath of a growing movement of concerned voters across the boroughs over the coming weeks.”
