Unrig Our Economy NYC Releases New Ad Calling Out Rep. Malliotakis for Siding with Corporations, Not Working People

New York, NY — Unrig Our Economy NYC, a new campaign to hold corporations, the wealthy, and their enablers in Congress accountable for rigging the economy, announced a new digital ad targeting Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis. The ad, which begins today in NY-11, calls out Rep. Malliotakis for siding with corporations over working people, voting not to cut corporate taxes, and against lowering the price of prescription drugs.

“When working people and middle-class families can get ahead, we all get ahead. But for too long wealthy corporations, their shareholders, and their political allies like Congresswoman Malliotakis have rigged the economy to their benefit. This ad buy is just the opening salvo of this campaign,” said Unrig Our Economy NYC spokesman Chris Fleming. “New Yorkers deserve to know who their representatives in Congress truly represent. Our new ad sheds light on the votes and stances taken by Rep. Malliotakis, who consistently puts the interests of corporations ahead of her constituents.

‘Get Ahead’ points out that Rep. Malliatakis (NY-11) took campaign donations from the oil industry, voted against legislation that would have raised wages, and voted against lowering the price of prescription drugs.

Today’s new ad against Malliotakis – one of four vulnerable Republican members to be targeted by the national Unrig Our Economy campaign – is part of a $4.5 million national buy that seeks to hold representatives accountable for voting for wealthy corporations, like big pharma and the oil and gas industry, over their hardworking constituents. Upcoming ads will feature testimonials from working people calling on their representatives to put their constituents first. The campaign will run through the summer.
