Rep. Malliotakis Votes Against Lowering Prices at the Checkout Line, Again
June 22, 2022
New York, NY – On Wednesday, Unrig Our Economy NYC called out Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis for once again voting against lowering prices for hardworking New Yorkers. Malliotakis voted against the Lower Food and Fuel Costs Act, bipartisan legislation aimed at helping lower prices for America’s families at the checkout line.
Unrig Our Economy NYC Campaign Director Clare Cecil: “The cost of food and gas may be at all-time highs in New York City, but if Congresswoman Mallotakis has her way, they’ll be even higher. Not only has Mallotakis refused to hold greedy corporations accountable for price gouging consumers, but she just voted against the Lower Food and Fuels Act, bipartisan legislation that will help get food on shelves faster, and reduce dependence on foreign oil, all the while bringing down prices.”
At a time when far too many New Yorkers are hit hard by surging prices and forced to live paycheck to paycheck:
- Malliotakis voted against – (H.R. 7606, the Lower Food and Fuel Costs Act) – lowering costs for Americans at the grocery store by lowering fertilizer costs for farmers, ensuring fair competition in the meat and poultry industry, strengthening the domestic food supply chain at local levels, and promoting homegrown ethanol production to help lower prices at the pump.
- Malliotakis voted against – (H.R. 7688, Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act) – stopping the oil and gas industry from gouging consumers at the pumps.
- Malliotakis voted against – (H.R. 7790, the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2022) – helping get more baby formula on shelves.
- Malliotakis voted against – (H.R. 4521, America COMPETES Act) – boosting our competitiveness with China and reducing prices by strengthening our supply chains, addressing some of the biggest bottlenecks, and bringing more manufacturing back to the U.S.
