New Yorkers Demand Rep. Malliotakis Vote for Historic Investment in Working Families Passed by US Senate

It’s Time For Malliotakis To Stop Siding With Big Corporations Over Hardworking New Yorkers

New York, NY – On Sunday, Unrig Our Economy NYC called on Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis to vote for the Inflation Reduction Act – historic legislation passed by the U.S. Senate over the weekend to combat inflation, lower costs for American families, and reduce the deficit. The Inflation Reduction Act – which receives overwhelming support from the public – is fully paid for by ensuring the ultra-wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share.

It also builds on the economic progress shown in Friday’s jobs report, in which employers added a stunning 528,000 jobs in July while the unemployment rate ticked down to 3.5%, the lowest level in nearly 50 years.

Clare Cecil, Campaign Director for the Unrig Our Economy NYC Campaign, said the following:

“Thanks to the US Senate passing the historic Inflation Reduction Act over the weekend, New Yorkers are one step closer to saving their hard-earned money at the pharmacy, at the pumps, and on their monthly energy bills and health insurance premiums. With overwhelming support from the public, the Inflation Reduction Act is fully paid for by making large corporations pay their fair share of taxes and represents our last chance to save the planet before it’s too late.

“We strongly urge Congresswoman Malliotakis to finally put working people before corporate special interests and vote for the Inflation Reduction Act. The economy and the tax code have been rigged for big companies and the ultra-wealthy and against working people long enough.”
